Soccer Fun

Matthew had his first soccer game today! He was so excited to have a uniform and couldn't wait to wear it. He tried it on last night and loved it so much he wanted to sleep in it! Once we got to the soccer fields this afternoon, he was a little nervous and decided to watch from the sidelines for awhile. After about 20 minutes, his nerves subsided and he was ready to play! He jumped right in and ran his little heart out. It's a lot of fun to watch all of those little guys running up and down the field kicking the ball with all of their might. Matthew's league plays differently than Stephen's due to the age. On Saturdays, they practice for 25 minutes, rest for 10 minutes and then have a 25 minute game. They play on 1/2 the field and use the smaller nets rather than full sized ones. Once the game starts, the 2 teams play 3 on 3 rather than the whole team at once, there are no goalies and they don't keep an official score. The primary focus is on team building and having fun. The coaches and ref were great and helped all of the boys, not just their own players. All in all Matthew loved it and can't wait for next Saturday.

These pictures were taken before leaving the house. I wanted to have some with a clean uniform. Matthew was very cooperative and really hammed it up for me!

I'm not really sure why he chose this pose, but he sure looks cute doing it!

I took lots of pictures at the game. To see Matthew in action, click on the link and it will take you to the web album. http://picasaweb.google.com/MMeister326/MatthewSFirstSoccerGame?feat=directlink

In other soccer news, Stephen had his first game last Thursday. I missed the game due to Open House at my school, so there are no pictures. Stephen did a fabulous job, with Michael and Matthew there to cheer him on. He made 2 goals and his team won 4-2. I will post pictures of Stephen in action after his next game.

First Day of School

Well, the big day finally arrived...Matthew's first day of Kindergarten. Today was an open house and tomorrow (Wednesday) he will ride the bus all by himself. He is beyond excited and I am a total wreck. I know he will do great, but it doesn't alleviate the worries I have about putting my little guy on the school bus. At least he will have his big brother looking out for him.

All ready to go!!!

Here's our handsome fourth grader. Yes, you read that right, fourth grader! He of course is too cool for pictures at school. Pictures are only to be taken at home. No nerves with this big guy. He was excited to get back to school to see all of his friends.

One more quick one before we leave! Say Cheese!!!!!!

Here's our handsome little guy at the drawing center. No tears, just pure joy knowing that he is one of the big kids now!

Such concentration!!!!

Matthew practiced walking down the hall to his classroom all by himself and never looked back. Goodbye baby boy....hello little man!
