It's a Girl!

We are adopting a little girl! She is 6 years old, with big brown eyes and lots of jet black hair. I should also mention that she is a black lab, named Sadie. I found out about her through a fellow teacher at school, Diane, who serves as a foster home for SPCA animals. She mentioned a couple of days ago that she had a 6 year old lab that needed a home due to a divorce situation. She comes from a loving home, they just simply couldn't keep her. Diane brought her to the house today to hang out with us for a couple of hours to see how the kids did with her. Well, that's all it took because Stephen Richard is in love!!!! All of us were sad to see her leave at the end of her visit. We have all of the paperwork done and are now just waiting on the final word from the SPCA office as to when we can get her. The hope is that I can pick her up from Diane's on my way home from work on Friday. That way, we will have the entire weekend to settle in and really get to know each other. She is a wonderful dog and just made herself at home while she was here. She is calm, affectionate and loves a good game of fetch! We can't wait until Friday so that we can say "Welcome Home Sadie"!

On your mark...... Get set......

GO!!!!!

She LOVES the snow and playing fetch with her tennis ball. Unfortunately she doesn't always love giving the ball back so Stephen can throw it again.

Happy Birthday Stephen!

I can't believe that Stephen has turned 9! It's amazing how fast the time goes by. It seems like yesterday when Michael and I welcomed this wonderful child into the world at 9:02pm on a cold, Saturday night in January. How, in the blink of an eye, have 9 years passed? Stephen, of course, has been planning his birthday celebration since last October, reminding us that as soon as Christmas is over, it is his birthday. Since his birthday fell on a Thursday, we had a small celebration with just the 4 of us. We went out for dinner and then had cupcakes and ice cream at home. His "big" celebration was having a sleep over with 3 of his buddies the following weekend. Overall he said he had a good birthday and is already discussing plans for next year!

"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you......."

Make a wish Stephen!

Happy Birthday sweet boy!!!!!

Welcome 2009!

Happy New Year one and all! We rang in 2009 surrounded by lots of family, food and fun. While the grown ups weren't sure if they were going to be able to stay awake to see the ball drop in Times Square on TV, the 4 children in our midst had no problem at all. Everyone had a great time partaking in a variety of yummy snacks, lots of adult beverages (the Jamaican Rum Punch was rather tasty if I do say so myself), as well as some pretty serious rounds of Bananagrams and Balderdash!

Here are the VERY yummy creme brulees that Michael's mom brought for dessert!

Ok Stephen....that's a little too close to the camera!

This was the test run a few minutes before midnight to make sure that all of our noise makers were ready to go!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.........HAPPY NEW YEAR!

WOO HOO...Let's go to bed now! (It took Matthew about 30 seconds to fall asleep once his head hit the pillow.)

:) Happy New Year! :)
